The African Caribbean Citizens Forum is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee operating in Leicester and Leicestershire. We are governed by a board of trustee directors who are responsible for the strategic direction of the charity. The day to day operational matters are managed by our Executive Officer. Ivan Liburd – Co Chair
Ivan Liburd is an active committee member of Leicester Nirvana FC representing the interests of young people and adults within football and the community. Ivan has been involved in community work from an early age working on projects such as community radio stations, magazines and initiatives to strengthen the voice of local people in order to influence local policy
Executive Officer – Carol Varley
With a background in teaching, training and youth work and experience of working in the public, business and voluntary sectors, Carol has over 25 years experience of working in and for Leicester’s voluntary and community sector in generalist and specialist infrastructure. She is a highly experienced strategic and operational manager, well respected as a ‘safe pair of hands’ and a staunch advocate for the VCS.
Terry Harrison MBE, JP – Co Chair
After a distinguished career in the Royal Marines, “Terry” entered public service heading a range of innovative projects for those with special needs, for which he was awarded the MBE in 1990. He is a former magistrate and served on Independent Monitoring Boards for prisons. Terry brings many years of experience heading a number of national and international projects in support of providing life changing opportunities for others.
Administrator – Natasha Lawrence
Since starting as an administrator new to working with the voluntary and community sector, Natasha has acquired a wealth of knowledge about community groups, charities and social enterprises. In addition she has gained a degree in Business Administration, studied book-keeping and payroll and is ACCF’s longest serving member of staff.
Roy Roberts- Treasurer
A public sector professional with more than 20 years experience in local government: managing projects; developing and supporting partnerships and multi-agency working and leading research and consultation. Roy held corporate responsibility for delivering the Leicester Partnership’s strategic vision for the VCS, led the Compact and key initiatives for the African Caribbean community and new arrivals.

Dr John Omara – Trustee/Director
Dr John Omara, previously the Medical Director of Zambia’s North West Province, is interested in all matters relating to the African Heritage community, particularly medical and healthcare. It is his dream to engage African Heritage people in shaping healthcare, and to take up careers in medicine and healthcare. He is currently a post graduate student and active in academia.
